What we have already achieved :

2,500 African caregivers/doctors trained in sickle cell disease from 17 countries of French-speaking Africa, including 260 with an expert graduate training (DIU Drepafrique-Paris-Cité-Universités Africaines

60 teachers/professors, medical professors or not, mobilized from France, Belgium and 10 French-speaking African countries.

1 brand of medicine and a unique model of partnership to produce and distribute the essential medicine for this disease in Africa, to as many people as possible at the lowest cost

The Graduate training
The «International Inter-university Diploma (DIU) on sickle cell disease in a francophone African context» organized by the NGO Drep.Afrique associated with the Rose Dieng France-Senegal University, the Paris-Cité University and many African academics.
Last session: 7th to 19th April 2025 in Dakar, Senegal (DIU 7)
This session was reserved for doctors, pharmacists, biologists working in Africa, graduates or at the end of their studies.
Next session: November 2025 in Dakar, Senegal
A session for paramedics will be held later on.

The Drug Treatement
We strive to :
Promote the spread of hydroxyurea in Africa at minimal cost, a drug that significantly reduces painful seizures, hospitalizations and mortality related to sickle cell disease.

FIFDA
(Francophone International Forum on Sickle Cell Disease in Africa)
Organized by Drep.Afrique and its scientific council, this forum has become the unmissable training event on the management of sickle cell patients in francophone Africa. It brings together more than 500 people every year since 2021.
It offers training by web seminar to a large audience of non-caregivers or caregivers, specialist of the disease or not in the 4 corners of the world, to help better understand the disease and better take charge of the patients.
The target audience is wide: doctors, pharmacists, nurses, nursing assistants, psychologists, epidemiologists, laboratory technicians, patient associations...
The short, 15-20 minute lectures are led by the best sickle cell specialists in Africa and Europe. It takes place by videoconference, live and in French.
