About Drep.Afrique

Drep.Afrique is an association of general interest whose purpose is to inform and act against sickle cell disease. Its aim is to initiate actions and concrete projects to prevent, detect, treat and increase the life expectancy of people affected by sickle cell disease, where this disease hits hardest, mainly on the African continent.

The aim of the Drep.Afrique association is to contribute to raising public awareness of the extent of the scourge of this genetic disease - the most common in the world - which is too often forgotten. The aim is to raise public awareness and support for this social and human cause, not only among the general public but also among institutional leaders.

The Scientific Council

Drep.Afrique's scientific board is made up of recognised specialists in sickle cell disease in Africa and France: doctors, researchers, but also pharmacists and nurses. All of them are obviously volunteers.

Coordinated by Dr Jean-Benoît Arlet, its role is to propose priority areas for rapid and concrete action against this disease in Africa and to ensure follow-up.

The board will take decisions on the scientific part of the project's two flagship actions: training of doctors, caregivers, other health professionals and families, and access to essential drugs to fight the disease.
